The woman who police said is under the age of 30, but possibly as young as 18, was found on Glenville Road near Stillman Lane.
During a press conference, officers said there was no doubt the woman had been murdered, but they did not have a cause of death or whether she was killed in the area or dumped in the quiet, residential spot near the Merrit Parkway.
When found, the woman's body was fully clothed, but was "constrained." WABC reported the body was found in a suitcase.
The cause of death will be determined by the Chief Medical Examiner, who was on the scene examining the body.
Glenville Road, which was closed for most of the day, has reopened.
